Personal Voice and Live Speech

Apple released Personal Voice and live speech a few years ago.  If you are newly diagnosed, I recommend taking the time to set your voice up.  You will be asked to speak several phrases to create an AI version of your voice.  I like this solution because it is created and stored ONLY on your iPhone.  This helps prevent your voice being taken and used in fraud.  

Live speech is Apple's own AAC app built into the phone.  It is not very robust and there are dozens of really powerful AAC apps that are much better.

Open Settings App

Tap Accessibility

Tap Personal Voice - Located in the SPEECH section of the Accessibility menu

Tap Create a Personal Voice

This process take 15-25 minutes.  Then when you phone is plugged in at night, the voice will be created on the phone.  It may take 2 nights to finish.  Don't worry, it runs in the background.  They do this so it never leaves your control.
